Since 2011, District 36 Peterborough has presented Merit Awards to deserving high school graduating students. The program began with Crestwood Secondary School and now includes all of our local high schools and PACE (Peterborough Alternative and Continuing Education) at PCVS. Over the years, we’ve distributed $8,000 to support students toward their futures. The award recognizes students who are positive, helpful, demonstrates good citizenship and have made the school a better place by treating others with respect and dignity.  It is meant for students who have not received multiple graduating awards. Peterborough District 36 of RTOERO also supports the winners of the ‘Best of High School Art’ Show which is organized by KAGS – Kawartha Artists’ Gallery and Studio. A selection of artwork from local high schools is displayed for one week and judged by a jury of experts. To encourage students of the Arts, RTOERO D36 Peterborough has presented a cheque to be shared amongst the winners of this competition. At our most recent Executive Meeting, it was decided to increase the amount of the cheque to $200.00 which is given to the recipient. Their name is engraved on the RTOERO District 36 Merit Award plaque that remains in the school display case. As well, we will increase the cheque to $200.00 for KAGS to provide prizes to winners of the ‘Best of High School Art’ competition.
