The new residential hospice in Norwood received much-needed funding to assist in the renovations, courtesy of District 36 Peterborough in 2019.

The home for two-bed hospice, located on Highway 7, was donated but requires major renovations for the bedrooms, bathrooms, a nursing station, a laundry room, quiet areas and meeting rooms. The RTOERO donation will help to cover much of the bathroom upgrades.

“It’s important to have hospice care in the community, with a well-functioning and accessible space that allows family members to focus on their loved ones,” says Karen Vandenberg, president, District 36 Peterborough.

Vandenberg notes that in addition to the District 36 donation, RTOERO members have volunteered for the hospice’s fundraising campaign and helped to raise awareness in the community. The hospice will serve Norwood and all the surrounding townships, including Westwood, Hastings, Havelock and Douro-Dummer.
